IOC March being the longest month yet

Plan:

Recording (again, sorry for my voice and my dad yelling about the USC game in the background):

Reflection:
Criteria A: 8 - I talked about the text as a whole, and the context of my extract and where it fell within the text. I think my response is better than "adequate", but not as good as "effective"
Criteria B: 4 - I honestly didn't do much of this, and definitely didn't talk about the effect it had on the reader (NOTE TO SELF - DO THIS)
Criteria C: 4 - I stuck to some organization and broke the commentary up into three different parts (labeling each one), but I don't know how coherent it is
Criteria D: 5 - I think I spoke well enough for people to understand me?????? (I don't really understand this criteria)

  1. It wouldn't let me listen to the IOC, but your outline looks really good. You highlighted a lot of key points and big ideas that seem significant to your thesis. Additionally, I think its great that you went ahead and made bullet points on your intro and body paragraphs, so it makes it easier when you present your oral commentary. I liked how you underlined information for both of the questions as well. I thinks its great that prepared for both, depending on what Ms. Genesky might ask you! Great outline!

  2. You are going to be so prepared for your IOC given how you talked about all aspects of the passage. I like how you broke down what you were going to talk about in your outline and that transferred to what you said in your IOC. I also think that you did a great job of making a clear conclusion that was backed up by all you talked about in your "body!"

  3. I believe you excelled greatly in the actual planning process. When i personally did mine, I struggled due to the weakness in my outline itself. You set yourself up for success by allowing yourself talking points to prevent you from being derailed, while also giving you a sense of pacing when speaking. Overall when looking at the analysis, the individual themes you picked up were some I wish I looked deeper into. The idea of conformity is something that is seen throughout the entire text, but is also highlighted in the individual excerpt. Overall the blog post was very well done and I'm confident you will be able to ace the IOCs.

  4. gr8 planning bri bri. killin it. also, ur nasally voice added uniqueness so- SCORE. your deep analysis with the themes will really help your actual ioc day and your grade will SOOOOOOOARRRRRRRRRR! i think also your outline protected u from running out of things to talk about and since you talked about so much, ms genesky will be able to ask you about a lot of things yipee

  5. Hey!

    A: 5
B: 3 (be sure you are thinking about effect on reader (review this part of the rubric and the questions at the top of this criterion))
    C: 2-3
    D: 3

Need a bit more introduction here; additionally, there was no thesis. Remember that the whole point of the IOC is to construct an oral essay in which you decide on the purpose of the passage and how the author develops that purpose. You really just jump into analyzing what you notice in the passage and it's not linked together.
Make reminders for yourself in your planning (so if you're using one example for ambition, make a note of what you see as far as the diction and/or syntax connected to ambition in that example).
Stay close to the passage- try not to give too much of your own opinion.
