Life is but a Netflix queue... TRUE

WHO RUNS THE WORLD?.....LADY MACBETH!

My Netflix (and chill) suggestions for the big and bad, Lady M:

Bound: A movie about a woman whose boyfriend is a violent gangster. Violet and Caesar are entranced with their passionate love affair and decide to run away together, with two million dollars that they've stolen. This would be a great movie for Lady Macbeth because of her ties with the blood-thirsty Macbeth. They love each other even through their problems and set-backs. During their killings, they stay true to one another and have each other's back (especially Lady Macbeth). I believe that Lady Macbeth would like the movie because she could relate to the main character and loving the "bad boy".

How to Get Away with Murder: When Annalise Keating and five of her students become involved in a murder case, they have to figure out a way that they don't get caught by the authorities. PERFECT for Lady Macbeth! She loves murder and always seems to find herself in the middle of it. This would also be the perfect binge-show for both the Macbeth's to sit near the fire and plot their next murder. They could probably use the tips on the show since the previous murders have all been a little messy!

House of Cards: About a congressman who works with his conniving wife to take revenge on the people who hurt them and their family. The series models the themes of ruthless pragmatism, manipulation, and immense power. The wife of the congressman, like Lady Macbeth, is in complete control, making her husband the submissive figure in the relationship. Lady Macbeth would love the Netflix series just for the congressman's wife, Claire Underwood. She would be able to relate to the wife as she is a wife of someone in power as well.

Romeo and Juliet: A pair of two lovers fall hard in love after their parents forbid them (shocker). Both Romeo and Juliet kill themselves, for each other (awwwhh), making the two the perfect love story. Lady Macbeth is definitely a romantic and would love this tragic love story. Every woman likes a forbidden love story with a little Leonardo DiCaprio and an overall great plot line. It's a movie for the nights she's alone without Macbeth and a little bit of quiet and a glass of red wine. Hey, Lady M might even be able to relate to the famous suicide-for-their-lover aspect at the end of the movie.

Scary Movie: After "accidentally" killing a man, a group of (sorry for the ~~FAIR IS FOUL AND FOUL IS FAIR~~ language) stupid teens are stalked and killed, spoiler, by a serial killer. The killer Macbeth's kill like nobody's buisness, feeling some remorse but not in the moment. They would love this laughable "horror" movie that makes killing someone kind of funny! Everyone needs a good laugh sometimes and especially if you're the Macbeth's and paranoid by anything and everything around them.

  1. I have to admit, I chucked a little bit on the How to Get Away with Murder comment about their past murders being a little messy! I also though the comparison to Bound was really creative, it shows just how blinded Lady Macbeth was to Macbeth's pure evil. It kind of reminds me of Baby Driver, how the lead girl was so willing to escape with Baby despite seeing him shoot at people several times. Anyway, great post, and I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!

  2. I really think it's awesome how you connected what Lady Macbeth would watch to another show about a different play by Shakespeare, such a cool concept. When you were talking about How to Get Away with Murder I think you made a really interesting claim about Lady Macbeth, how she might love murder itself instead of just the concept of power. Great picks and blog!

  3. WOWWW BRIANNA THIS IS A COOL POST!! I really enjoyed all of these recommendations. I like the connection to Scary Movie especially, because it is not one that you would notice at first when watching the movie, but you have to delve into the deeper meaning of the plot. I also did Lady Macbeth but I loved your connections you used a lot of things I didn't even think of! I also did How to get away with murder because Lady Macbeth relates to Annalise as you stated in your post. They both manipulate others others and are good at hiding crimes.

  4. I agree with all your suggestions exceeptttt for Romeo and Juliet. In my opinion, I don't know if I would look at Lady Macbeth as a romantic. This might be because we never really heard about their relationship in the play. We only heard about their plan to kill Duncan and the aftermath of that decision. She seemed to be more in love with the idea of power. Good Job!!!! I <3 U
